ABEOKUTA – As the crescent moon marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on the Muslim Ummah to internalize the virtues of self-discipline and compassion as a permanent lifestyle rather than a seasonal observance.
In a victory message to the faithful following the successful completion of the 30-day fast, the Governor described the period as a rigorous journey of spiritual “re-orientation” and moral purification. He noted that the strength of the state lies in the collective piety and the “spirit of Sabr” (patience) demonstrated by its citizens.
Reflecting on the various interventions during the month—including the state’s distribution of food relief in Ijebu-Ode and Ijebu North East—Governor Abiodun emphasized that the end of fasting should not signal the end of charity.
”Ramadan has nurtured in us a renewed commitment to the service of Allah and humanity,” the Governor stated. “Beyond the abstinence from food and drink, this season was defined by increased support for the less privileged. These are the values that fortify our social fabric and promote communal peace.”
The Governor expressed deep gratitude for the continuous prayers offered by the Muslim community for the “Building Our Future Together” agenda. He acknowledged that spiritual support remains a cornerstone for the unity, stability, and democratic growth currently being experienced in the Gateway State.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, Abiodun assured residents that his government would continue to prioritize social welfare and infrastructure that benefit all, regardless of religious leaning.
”As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, let us carry forward the humility and righteousness of the past month into our daily interactions,” he urged. “Our administration remains steadfast in creating a prosperous Ogun State where the virtues of love and tolerance are the standard, not the exception.”
The Governor concluded by wishing all Muslims a joyous and spiritually fulfilling Eid celebration, with prayers for continued divine blessings upon Ogun State and Nigeria.
