Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has officially opened Phase II of the vital 21-kilometre Imashayi–Igan-Okoto–Ayetoro Road in Yewa North Local Government Area, signaling strong progress in linking rural farming zones to broader markets. This Thursday event underscores his administration’s push to uplift long-neglected Ogun West, with a firm pledge to wrap up the remaining phase soon for seamless connectivity to Ayetoro.
Governor’s Key Pledges
Abiodun highlighted Yewa North’s role as a state “food basket,” stressing how better roads will speed up farm-to-market transport and spur economic growth. He ordered the Ministry of Housing to urgently assess and revamp the local Youth Development Centre, aiming to empower young people in the area. Despite fiscal limits preventing a full statewide overhaul, he vowed sustained road projects across all senatorial districts through his tenure’s end.

Infrastructure Gains in Ogun West
The governor touted over 20 extensive road initiatives in Yewaland, including the 20km Agbara–Atan–Lusada dual carriageway and Ilaro–Owode Road, which rival multiple shorter projects elsewhere. Works Commissioner Engr. Ade Akinsanya detailed Phase II’s engineering feats, like reinforced concrete in flood zones to combat erosion, splitting the full project into three manageable stages. These upgrades already ease farm produce movement, bolster security, and elevate living standards along this critical Ayetoro-town connector.

Community, Federal Cheers
Local voices rang with praise: Iyaloja General Chief (Mrs.) Yemisi Abass lauded Abiodun for honoring his Phase I promise and pressed for Phase III; Yewa North Chair Dr. Olusola Akinbode noted farmer aid via 11,000 seedlings last year and 30,000 more planned; Rep. Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka called it a game-changer after years of oversight; and Oba Mukaila Akanbi Salako of Igan-Okoto sought final-phase urgency. Abiodun also hailed President Bola Tinubu’s reforms, crediting him for economic stability, fuel steadiness, and mega-projects like the 1,000km Badagry–Sokoto Highway—slashing Imeko-Lagos trips below an hour—positioning Ogun as Nigeria’s top investor hub.
