
Abimbola Adekanmbi, the former Finance Commissioner and Deputy Chief of Staff under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo State, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adekanmbi, who was also a senatorial aspirant for the APC in the 2023 elections, conveyed his resignation through a formal letter addressed to party officials at the ward, local government, and state levels.
In his resignation letter, addressed notably to the APC chairman of Ward 1 in Ibadan North East Local Government and copied to other ward and state party chairmen, Adekanmbi marked the end of a significant chapter in his political journey. Reflecting on his years of service, he described his involvement since the party’s inception as a period marked by growth, challenges, and steadfast commitment to the advancement of Oyo State.
Adekanmbi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have worked alongside dedicated party members at various levels, where shared goals and mutual cooperation created lasting bonds and collective memories. While the senator-hopeful did not disclose specific reasons for his departure, he extended his well wishes to APC and prayed for continued progress and prosperity for Oyo State.
Beyond politics, Adekanmbi serves as the current president of the Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Council, where he has pledged to foster educational and skill acquisition programs for youth development. His resignation from APC thus points to a pivotal moment in his political and public service career, stirring speculation about his next steps in Oyo’s political landscape.
