The Director General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has identified three factors that he believes will swing votes for President Bola Tinubu in the January 2027 presidential election: the President’s faith in God, his record of performance, and the campaign organisation’s capacity to win the hearts of the electorate.
The declaration came on Friday, following a media chat in Saudi Arabia where Tinubu expressed what he called enormous faith in God to be re-elected, ValidViewNetwork reports .
THE PRESIDENT’S FAITH
Tinubu, speaking in Saudi Arabia on Friday, was unequivocal about his belief that his re-election is divinely ordained.
“I believe that Allah’s wish in His court must prevail. And there’s no other God but Allah. Allah is the only one who can define a human being, what he will be, and what he will become,” Tinubu said .
YARI’S INTERPRETATION
Yari said the President’s response was the mark of a true leader.
“That is what makes a leader, because when you ask him, he first prayed for the country, prayed for every Nigerian and also he says this election is an election that God has selected the person who will be a leader, and only Him that can put a leader or otherwise,” he said
He added that the campaign would match that faith with work on the ground.
“So in total, I depend on Allah to do it for him as he did it for him in 2023. By that, Allah says we should work, that all the procedures we are undertaking, to campaign, to talk to people, to convince them, to show them what we have done, what we have achieved and that by His grace, people will be convinced to elect us,” he said .
THE THREE PILLARS
Yari said the three factors—faith, performance, and organisational capacity, would ultimately secure victory for Tinubu, and reaffirmed the APC-PCC’s commitment to securing the buy-in of Nigerians for the President’s second-term bid.
WHY IT MATTERS
Yari’s framing of the 2027 election as a contest determined by divine will and presidential performance is a strategic choice.
It places the President’s record at the centre of the campaign, rather than the personality of his opponents. It also appeals to the religious sensibilities of Nigeria’s electorate, particularly in the North, where faith is a central part of public life.
But the third factor, organisational capacity—is perhaps the most critical. Faith and performance are abstract. Organisation is concrete. It means polling unit structures, canvassers, vehicles, and the ability to mobilise voters on election day.
The APC has the machinery. The question is whether it can deliver the votes. The campaign has begun. The three factors have been named. And the President is trusting in Allah to see him through. ValidViewNetwork reports.
