From Football to Faith: Jerry Eze Leads Thousands in Prayer at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s famous Old Trafford stadium took on a different role on Saturday as Nigerian pastor Jerry Eze led thousands of Christians in prayer during the NSPPD UK Prayer Conference.

The event, hosted by Streams of Joy International, brought worshippers from across Britain and beyond to the 74,000-capacity stadium for prayer, worship and fellowship.

The gathering was free to attend, although participants were encouraged to register ahead of the event because available places were limited.

Reports indicated that demand for attendance was high in the days leading up to the conference, with some social media users searching for spare places after availability became tight.

Old Trafford becomes prayer ground

The stadium, better known globally as the home of Manchester United, was transformed for the gathering as worshippers filled the stands and other designated areas.

Eze was joined by several gospel ministers, including Sunmisola Agbebi, Mercy Chinwo, Dunsin Oyekan and Kaestrings.

Images from the event showed large crowds gathered inside the stadium as the programme moved between prayer and worship sessions.

The Old Trafford gathering represents the growing international reach of the NSPPD prayer movement, which has attracted large Nigerian and African Christian audiences beyond Nigeria.
