As he marked his 69th birthday surrounded by political associates, party chieftains, and well-wishers at his campaign office in Osogbo, the immediate past National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, declared that his next political steps remain entirely subject to divine direction.
The former Osun State Deputy Governor and senator representing Osun East, whose political trajectory has recently drawn intense speculation amid shifting alliances within the state’s political landscape, chose a reflective tone rather than mapping out immediate electoral ambitions.
“My political future depends on God’s plan for me. I am in the hand of God. Whatever His plan for me is good,” Omisore stated, expressing profound gratitude for life and the large turnout.
The low-key yet well-attended event drew heavyweights across political and religious divides, including representatives from the APC Elder Caucus, the Alubarika Movement, and loyalists of the incumbent national leadership.
Weighing in on the milestone, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke lauded the celebrant as an enduring pillar of development. In a goodwill message, Adeleke highlighted Omisore’s versatile career footprint—spanning engineering, public service, the legislature, and traditional institution-building—noting that his multifaceted contributions have left an indelible mark on the progress of Osun State.
In the same vein, the Catholic Bishop of Osogbo Diocese, Most Rev. John Oyejola, used the platform to counsel the former lawmaker on transitioning into an elder statesman role. Describing politics primarily as a vocation of service, the cleric challenged Omisore to view the new phase of his life as an unreserved call to mentor younger generations, act as a voice of moral conscience, and focus intensely on institution-building, irrespective of whether he occupies elective office.
