Deji Urges Diaspora Investment as New Event Centre Opens in Akure

​The Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, has renewed his call for indigenes living abroad and outside the state capital to channel investments back home to accelerate urban expansion and curb youth unemployment.

​The first-class monarch made the appeal during the official inauguration of the Baseline Event Centre located in the Oke-Aro area of Akure. Emphasizing that the city is witnessing steady growth, Oba Aladelusi assured prospective investors of a secure environment and favorable returns.

​”I have always been appealing to our Akure indigenes in diaspora to come and invest at home to develop this community,” the monarch stated. “Akure is expanding, and I want to assure them that their investments are safe. Apart from contributing to overall infrastructure and development, this will create massive employment opportunities for our teeming youths.”

​Speaking on the vision behind the multi-million-naira project, the Managing Director of Baseline Event Centre, Olusegun Odemakinwa, noted that the establishment was strategically sited in the Ondo State capital to stimulate grassroots economic activity and empower local service providers.

​Odemakinwa explained that the ripple effects of the facility would extend far beyond direct employment, deliberately benefiting local vendors, including photographers, decorators, caterers, security personnel, and young professionals within the hospitality ecosystem.

​”Our intention is to deliberately create opportunities for people in Akure and its environs, particularly young people who are looking for a platform to develop their skills, earn an income, and build sustainable careers,” Odemakinwa added. “When Baseline succeeds, we want that success to travel beyond these walls.”

​The royal father commended the management team for demonstrating immense confidence in the local economy, promising that the palace would continue to back private initiatives targeted at fostering prosperity and infrastructural transformation in the ancient city.
