Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 16-year-old boy, Udochukwu Nwankwo, for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery operation at a hotel located in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area.
The suspect was intercepted during an early morning security patrol by officers attached to the B Division, Amansea. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the teenager and two accomplices currently at large allegedly targeted a hotel guest, threatening her before making off with her mobile phone and personal belongings.
Authorities successfully recovered a shiny metallic lighter crafted to resemble a pistol, which the suspect reportedly used to intimidate victims during the operations. Police confirmation notes that the teenager has confessed to using the imitation weapon during preliminary interrogations.
The command has ramped up intelligence and operational efforts to track down the fleeing accomplices, recover the stolen valuables, and ensure all parties involved face prosecution.
