ABEOKUTA — The ongoing public fallout between fast-rising Afrobeats star Seyi Vibez and his former label, Dapper Music, has intensified as the singer launched fresh online attacks amid allegations of missing funds exceeding ₦1 billion.
Taking to the social media platform X, the “Chance (Na Ham)” crooner unleashed a series of cryptic and fiery posts, mocking the label’s management and suggesting he narrowly escaped financial and psychological entrapment.
Reflecting on his departure from the imprint, Seyi Vibez wrote, “Thank GOD say na me first Japa. The rest na mumu,” implying that his former label mates remain stuck in a disadvantageous situation.
The controversy took a more eccentric turn as the singer made unverified allegations of spiritual manipulation. He claimed that attempts to use “jazz”—a local term for occultic or fetish practices—on him ultimately failed.
In a bizarre twist, the artiste dragged celebrity chef Hilda Baci into the fray. He alleged that meals from the renowned culinary expert were routinely supplied to him by the label, humorously remarking that the food experience almost claimed his life. Escalating the jibe further, he posted: “Na Hilda Baci BBL all una catalogue money dey go. All of una dey craze and una mama,” linking the label’s financial expenditures to lifestyle choices.
The mounting tension underscores the increasingly volatile relationship between independent Nigerian artistes and their management structures, a recurring theme in the nation’s vibrant music industry. As the public awaits an official response from Dapper Music regarding the weighty allegations of missing funds, the digital sparring match continues to dominate entertainment headlines.
