WASHINGTON / TEHRAN — The fragile Middle East peace shattered entirely overnight as United States forces launched a devastating wave of airstrikes against Iranian military installations, prompting President Donald Trump to issue an ultimatum warning that the Islamic Republic could face total destruction.

The high-stakes military escalation has effectively dismantled a 14-point ceasefire agreement brokered just twelve days ago on June 17. In a fiery, late-night statement published on Truth Social, President Trump confirmed that American warplanes had pounded multiple strategic targets inside Iran, accusing Tehran of repeatedly and flagrantly violating the terms of the truce.

“United States aircraft just struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations, and coastal radar sites, for violating the Cease Fire Agreement, AGAIN!” President Trump declared. “It is very possible that they will never learn! There may come a point when we are no longer able to be reasonable, and will be forced to militarily complete the job that we very successfully started. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!”

Midnight Fury in the Skies

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the heavy bombardment was a direct retaliation for a renewed Iranian campaign against international shipping lanes. Pentagon officials stated that Iran was given a final opportunity to honor the memorandum of understanding after an initially thwarted provocation, but instead chose to launch a one-way suicide drone that struck the M/T Kiku—a Panama-flagged tanker transporting over two million barrels of crude oil near the volatile Strait of Hormuz.

The retaliatory American operation struck deep into Iranian territory. CENTCOM confirmed that precision munitions successfully dismantled drone and missile storage facilities, coastal radar installations, advanced maritime surveillance infrastructure, command-and-control communication systems, and air defense batteries. Iranian state broadcaster IRIB confirmed that powerful explosions rocked the southern coastal city of Sirik following the American incursions.

Tehran Vows ‘Hell’ as Missiles Rain on Neighbors

The response from Tehran was immediate and defiant. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a chilling counter-warning, declaring that American military bases scattered across the Middle East would “experience hell in the coming days.” Reaffirming its iron-fisted chokehold over the Strait of Hormuz, Iran rapidly expanded the theater of conflict by launching a barrage of missiles and drones at neighboring Gulf states allied with Washington.

In Kuwait, military authorities reported that air defense systems successfully intercepted two ballistic missiles before they could strike their targets, avoiding casualties. However, Bahrain was not as fortunate. The country’s Interior Ministry reported that an Iranian drone slammed directly into an eight-story residential building near Bahrain International Airport. While miraculously no fatalities were recorded, the strike obliterated the top floor of the complex and caused severe structural damage, sending shockwaves through the local population.

A Peace Short-Lived

The sudden descent into open hostility marks a tragic end to the June 17 memorandum of understanding, which had bound both nations to a 60-day cessation of hostilities designed to guarantee the unhindered, free transit of commercial shipping through the region. Under those terms, Tehran had explicitly pledged to use its “best efforts” to ensure safe passage.

Now, Iranian authorities are fiercely accusing Washington of war-mongering, claiming the U.S. strikes violated the very agreement meant to end the conflict. Tehran has further threatened to permanently walk away from all diplomatic negotiations if American military operations do not cease immediately.

Compounding the region’s instability, the cross-border violence comes at a time of widespread friction across multiple fronts, including a fresh Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon just a day after Israel had agreed to a partial troop withdrawal.

With the 60-day truce now in tatters, the international community watches with bated breath as the world’s most volatile region teeters on the precipice of an all-out regional war.
