Ekiti Decides: Election Materials Arrive Ekiti LGAs as INEC Vows Free and Fair Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has assured Ekiti residents of a credible, transparent and well‑coordinated governorship election as sensitive materials reached all 16 local government areas ahead of Saturday’s poll.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the materials were distributed from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Ado‑Ekiti branch, under tight security and in the presence of political parties, observers, media and other stakeholders.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Bunmi Omoseyindemi, reaffirmed the commission’s readiness for a smooth exercise. He stated, “As you can see, we have begun the distribution of sensitive materials for Saturday’s governorship election. The process is being carried out in a transparent manner in the presence of security agencies, political parties, election observers, media and other stakeholders.”

He added that “We started with local government areas that are far from the state capital to ensure that the materials get to their destinations on time and without any hitch.” Omoseyindemi urged residents to come out peacefully, assuring them that INEC had put all necessary logistics in place to ensure a credible poll.

On security, the Commissioner of Police for the Ekiti Governorship Election, Dr Abayomi Shogunle, praised the transparency of the distribution process and pledged maximum protection for voters, officials and observers. He declared, “Every unit, every centre, every INEC personnel, every voter, every journalist and every observer would be protected. What we want to achieve is increased voter turnout.”

Shogunle explained that police officers were escorting election materials to all LGAs and would remain on guard until the conclusion of the exercise. He said the movement of materials to Registration Area Centres would begin on Friday, followed by deployment to polling units early Saturday morning to ensure voting starts on time.

He noted that the security agencies had adopted a multi‑layered framework based on intelligence and risk assessments, operating under the Inspector General’s operational order to prevent disruptions and maintain order throughout the election.

As Ekiti prepares for a decisive moment at the ballot box, the combined readiness of INEC and the security agencies signals a strong commitment to transparency and voter confidence. With materials already in place and a robust security network activated, the state is poised for an election where credibility and safety take centre stage.
