ABUJA – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into a violent domestic altercation involving Big Brother Naija “All Stars” winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, and her father, Emmanuel Odiniya, which left several family members hospitalized.
The incident, which gained public attention after Ilebaye shared a distressed livestream seeking help, reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation at their Abuja residence.
Allegations of Provocation
Breaking his silence via a voice note shared by Kogi-based journalist Jeremiah Promise, Mr. Odiniya alleged that the clash was the result of long-standing tensions. He claimed his daughter’s behavior shifted drastically following her reality TV victory, accusing her of becoming “disrespectful” and ignoring his guidance.
”I stood by my daughter and ensured people voted for her massively,” Odiniya stated, citing his use of personal connections to bolster her campaign. He alleged that since the win, Ilebaye had ignored professional appointments he scheduled and had undergone cosmetic procedures against his wishes.
Claims of Physical Assault
The father further alleged that the recent violence was initiated by Ilebaye. According to his account, the reality star struck him with a hanger and broke an electric lantern over his head. He also claimed this was not the first instance of physical aggression, alleging a prior incident where she caused him to bleed using an air conditioner hanger.
Beyond the physical altercation, Mr. Odiniya accused his daughter of financial neglect during his health struggles and claimed she had a negative influence on her younger brother’s academic and personal life.
Police Intervention
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the situation resulted in injuries for all parties involved.
”The man is in the hospital; he is sick. All of them were badly injured,” Adeh stated. She further noted that Ilebaye’s siblings are currently in protective custody as the police work to untangle the circumstances of the brawl.
Despite the gravity of the allegations, Mr. Odiniya maintained that he seeks reconciliation, stating, “I still love my daughter deeply. I want her to change and do better.”
