Police Nab Suspects Over Gun Movement in Delta Youth Killing Case

Police have reportedly arrested two suspects in connection with the transfer of a pistol and ammunition allegedly tied to the killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State.

The suspects are believed to include the individual who allegedly sent a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition from Yenagoa. Authorities suspect the firearm later became linked to the fatal shooting involving ASP Nuhu Usman.

Sources disclosed that the two men were brought to the Effurun Area Command under the Delta State Police Command on Wednesday night as investigations continue into how the weapon was moved and the circumstances surrounding Ogidi’s death.

Although the police have not officially confirmed the arrests, a source close to the investigation told Vanguard that one of the suspects is the alleged sender of the firearm.

According to the source, the pistol was reportedly transported from Yenagoa to Effurun through a transport company before Ogidi, popularly known as “Mine,” allegedly picked it up for delivery to its owner in Sapele. He was said to have been intercepted at Effurun Motor Park, where he was allegedly extrajudicially killed by ASP Nuhu and others.

The source added that investigators are still trying to determine whether the second suspect is the driver who transported the parcel from Yenagoa, noting that efforts are ongoing to track down other persons connected to the case.

The incident has continued to spark public outrage amid allegations that Ogidi was unlawfully killed after his arrest at the motor park. Family members, including his mother, have also expressed grief and demanded justice over the circumstances surrounding the deaths of her sons.
