In a major boost to regional aviation, Ogun State’s homegrown carrier, Gateway Air, is set to commence scheduled flight operations linking the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport in Iperu-Remo to Nigeria’s primary commercial and administrative hubs starting Monday, April 13, 2026.
The expansion follows the recent commissioning of the airport by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and aligns with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s strategic vision to position Ogun State as Nigeria’s third busiest aviation hub.
New Routes and Schedule
According to a statement released by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the airline will provide direct and connecting services on key routes. The initial flight schedule includes:
- Iperu to Abuja
- Iperu to Kano
- Abuja to Port Harcourt
- Abuja to Calabar
- Abuja to Jos
Operations are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, specifically designed to cater to the mid-week demands of business travelers and regional commuters.
Competitive Pricing and Fleet
To encourage early adoption, Gateway Air has pegged its economy one-way fares as low as ₦100,000. The airline is deploying its newly acquired fleet of Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft for these routes. The 90-seater jets are praised for their efficiency and comfort, making them ideal for the short-to-medium haul domestic hops announced by the carrier.
A Growing Aviation Ecosystem
The launch of these domestic routes is only the first phase of a broader aviation master plan. Governor Abiodun recently disclosed that the airport is already facilitating cargo operations with partners like Allied Air, with Ethiopian Airlines expected to join the fray shortly.
Furthermore, the aviation sector in the state received a massive endorsement from Air Peace Chairman, Allen Onyema, who recently announced that the national giant would begin international flights from the Ogun airport to London Gatwick and Heathrow later this summer.
”This development marks a significant step in improving regional accessibility and delivering efficient, reliable air travel services while supporting economic growth across the country,” Akinmade stated.
Booking Information
Intending passengers are advised to utilize the airline’s official channels for bookings. In a collaborative service arrangement, inquiries and reservations can be managed via the airline’s contact center at +234 912 595 0403 or via email at contactcenter@flyvaluejet.com.
With the 4-kilometer runway—one of the longest in the country—now active, the “Gateway to Nigeria” is officially open for business, promising to decongest the Lagos aviation corridor and provide a seamless alternative for travelers in the Southwest.
