ABUJA – As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) moves toward its highly anticipated National Convention scheduled for this Sunday, March 29, the party’s leadership has expressed profound appreciation for the internal peace-building efforts led by former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
A high-powered delegation from the National Caretaker Working Committee, led by the Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Saraki yesterday evening. The visit, which included the Caretaker Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, served as a formal acknowledgment of Saraki’s “indispensable role” in navigating the party through recent turbulent waters.
A Pillar of Unity
Speaking during the meeting, Chairman Mohammed noted that the upcoming convention represents a “rebirth” for the PDP. He emphasized that the successful organization of the event would not have been possible without the strategic mediation and reconciliation frameworks spearheaded by Saraki.

”We are here to appreciate the wisdom and the stabilizing influence Dr. Saraki has brought to the table,” Mohammed stated. “His commitment to a unified PDP has been the glue holding various interests together as we approach this Sunday’s convention.”
Legal and Strategic Alignment
The presence of Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, underscored the legal stability the party has regained. Sources within the meeting indicated that discussions also touched on ensuring a seamless, litigation-free transition during the Sunday exercise, which is expected to produce a new crop of National Working Committee (NWC) members.
Saraki Reaffirms Commitment
Responding to the delegation, Dr. Saraki expressed his gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the party’s progress. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize the collective interest of the party over individual ambitions, describing the Sunday convention as a critical milestone for the PDP as it repositions itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
”The work is not finished, but we have made significant strides,” Saraki remarked. “Sunday is an opportunity to show Nigerians that the PDP is ready to lead with a single, united voice.”

The PDP National Convention is expected to draw delegates from across the 36 states and the FCT to the Eagle Square, Abuja, marking a definitive end to the tenure of the caretaker administration.
