The Ogun State Government has announced the appointment of Mrs. Feyisara Bolarinwa-Adebowale as the substantive Director-General of the State Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP). The seasoned legal practitioner succeeds the late Dr. Adesina Olanloye, who previously headed the agency.
A Merit-Based Transition
According to a statement issued by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, the appointment aligns with the provisions of the extant Ogun State Procurement Law (as amended). Mrs. Bolarinwa-Adebowale emerged as the top candidate following a rigorous, competitive selection process.
The evaluation included the shortlisting and interviewing of high-level professionals within the state’s Civil and Public Service. Specifically, candidates were drawn from the pool of officers who successfully completed the Executive Training Validation and Development Programme (ETVDP), ensuring the new DG possesses the requisite technical competencies and administrative leadership skills.
Profile of the New DG
Born on May 22, 1978, in Ibadan, Mrs. Bolarinwa-Adebowale brings over two decades of legal and administrative expertise to the role.
- Education: An alumna of Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode, she earned her LL.B from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) and completed her professional training at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus.
- Career Path: She began her career in the state’s service as a State Counsel in December 2005. Before this elevation, she served as the Deputy Director of Civil Litigation in the Ministry of Justice and was later seconded to the Bureau of Public Procurement as a Legal Officer—a role that provided her with deep institutional knowledge of the state’s procurement frameworks.
Driving Accountability
The Head of Service emphasized that this appointment is a strategic move by the Governor Dapo Abiodun administration to bolster transparency and accountability in public contracting. By placing a seasoned legal expert at the helm, the government aims to ensure that all state procurement policies are executed in strict adherence to international best practices and bureaucratic integrity.
While congratulating the new Director-General, Mr. Onasanya charged her to uphold a high sense of responsibility and ensure the Bureau remains a bastion of due process in the “Gateway State.”
