The Ebonyi State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt following the shocking abduction of three siblings by a woman who had moved into their compound in Nwezenyi community, Izzi Local Government Area, just 24 hours prior.
The victims—identified as Favour, Obinna, and Kamso Okeoha—were reportedly lured away on Saturday, February 28, while their parents were away from the premises.
A Calculated Deception
According to local sources, the suspect’s entry into the community appeared meticulously planned to build quick rapport. Neighbors revealed that the woman rented the apartment on Thursday and officially moved in on Friday. By Saturday, the children were gone.
In a chilling detail provided by a fellow tenant, the suspect allegedly went to great lengths to appear harmless and well-integrated. She spent her first few hours painting her room and inscribing the phrase “One Love” on the wall—a gesture residents now believe was a calculated ploy to win the trust of the families in the compound.
Community in Shock
The disappearance has sent shockwaves through the Igbeagu area. “She stayed just one day before the children were abducted,” one resident lamented, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “We do not even know her identity; she was a total stranger who played the part of a friendly neighbor.”
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Ebonyi State Command, Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident to journalists, stating that a formal investigation is underway. He assured the public that the command is utilizing all available resources to track the suspect and ensure the safe rescue of the Okeoha siblings.
