LOKOJA – Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have struck a massive blow against organized crime in Kogi State, overrunning a strategic enclave linked to notorious terrorist kingpins Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu.
The operation, codenamed IGBO IDANU I, marks a significant turning point in the state’s security landscape. Led personally by the Commander of the 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, the mission saw troops navigate nearly impassable terrain—including dense marshes and riverine obstacles—to catch the criminal network off-guard.

According to military sources and the Kogi State Ministry of Information, the terrorists fled their camp upon sighting the advancing force. However, the subsequent search of the site yielded a staggering haul of munitions: eight boxes of 7.62 x 54mm link ammunition (totaling 2,000 rounds) and a box of high-velocity grenades.
”This maneuver enabled the force to penetrate deep into the enclave,” an Army spokesperson noted. “The recovery of these items significantly degrades the terrorists’ ability to launch coordinated attacks.”

Following the seizure, the camp was systematically razed to the ground to prevent the network from regrouping. This victory comes as the Kogi State Government ramps up security measures across the region, including new protocols for religious gatherings to prevent kidnapping-for-ransom plots.
Brigadier General Sidi praised the “tactical discipline” of his men, reaffirming that the Army remains committed to flushing out remnants of the Ibrahim-Shu’aibu network
