The peaceful Iluabo community in Ondo State was plunged into chaos on Sunday night as armed men launched a violent attack, leaving three people injured and one woman abducted.
The incident, which occurred around 8:00 pm at Liberty Avenue, targeted residents and passersby in the domain of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Oba (Dr.) Olu Falae.
Details of the Ambush
According to official reports from the Ondo State Police Command, the attackers—estimated to be six in number—ambushed John Ofuduwa as he drove his Toyota Camry into his residence. The gunmen opened fire, leaving Ofuduwa with gunshot wounds.
The violence quickly escalated as the attackers:
- Abducted a neighbor, Oladeinde Tomilola, as she attempted to enter her compound.
- Injured two pedestrians, Victoria Olorunfemi and her 11-year-old daughter, who were caught in the crossfire.
All injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

High-Level Security Response
In a show of force and commitment to community safety, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, visited the scene on Monday alongside the Commander of the 32 Brigade Artillery, Brig. Gen. Justin Ifeanyi.
The security chiefs conducted an on-the-spot assessment and met with Oba Olu Falae at his palace. The traditional ruler, a prominent national figure, condemned the “criminal act” and pledged to mobilize local vigilantes to support the police and army in their search-and-rescue mission.
”The palace will mobilize community vigilante groups to complement ongoing police efforts,” Oba Falae assured the delegation.

Investigation and Rescue Operations
CP Lawal has ordered the deployment of additional tactical units and intelligence-driven measures to the area. A joint operation involving the Police, Nigerian Army, and the DSS is currently underway to track the kidnappers and ensure the safe release of Oladeinde Tomilola.
The Police Command has urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, requesting that anyone with information contact them via their emergency line at 0906 058 8958.
