The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, received the Excellence in Public Service Award at the 7th edition of Business Day Newspaper’s Lecture Series and Awards on December 4, 2025. This prestigious event, themed “Shaping Nigeria’s Economic Future: Navigating Challenges, Unlocking Opportunities,” celebrated chief executives of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) for advancing government policies.

Business Day Publisher Frank Aigbogun praised the awardees, emphasizing public service as the ultimate career for societal impact. He noted, amid Nigeria’s pressing economic hurdles, the ceremony’s timeliness underscores service as “the rent we pay for our rooms here on earth.” The gathering drew high-profile figures, including former President Goodluck Jonathan represented by ex-Senate President Pius Anyim, Information Minister Mohammed Idris, and Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.

Olukoyede, absent from the Lagos venue, was represented by EFCC Director of Public Affairs, Commander Wilson Uwujaren. This accolade aligns with Olukoyede’s recent honours, such as the Courage in Justice and Transparency Award in April 2025 from the Nigerian Human Rights Community for his anti-corruption efforts. Earlier recognitions include an excellence award in May 2025 from a judicial association and others highlighting his integrity in tackling financial crimes.
