
On Friday, November 29, 2025, 1,187 cadets of the Regular Course 7 at Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, were commissioned as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) in a colorful Passing Out Parade, signifying the successful completion of five rigorous years of academic and professional training. The cadets completed a demanding curriculum, earning Bachelor’s degrees across various disciplines and equipping them with a blend of academic excellence and policing skills to serve Nigeria effectively.
Presidential Message on Police Professionalism and Reform
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated the new officers and called on them to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights while discharging their duties. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to comprehensive police reform, the welfare of personnel, and enhancing the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to better tackle security challenges nationwide.

Ceremony Attended by Distinguished Guests
The event was well attended by prominent personalities, including Shanta Emily Knowles, Head of the Royal Bahamas Police Force; Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State; representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs; members of the National Assembly; senior police officers both serving and retired; academia from the Police Academy; and traditional and religious leaders. The presence of these dignitaries highlighted the importance of the event and underscored the national effort toward police transformation.

Inspector-General’s Charge to the New Officers
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., praised the cadets for their discipline and dedication during training. He reminded the officers that effective policing demands character, discipline, and professionalism, urging them to be steadfast in safeguarding lives, maintaining law and order, and rebuilding public trust in the Nigeria Police Force. Their commissioning represents a critical step in the ongoing professionalization and reform agenda within Nigerian policing.
