Troops Neutralize 19 Bandits, Protect Shanono Communities in Kano

The troops of Joint Task Force Operation MESA, led by 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, successfully repelled a bandits’ attack in the Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State on November 1, 2025. In a fierce gun battle triggered by a tip-off of bandits’ movement around Ungwan Tudu, Ungwan Tsamiya, and Goron Dutse, the troops neutralized 19 bandits while pushing them out of the vulnerable communities. Unfortunately, the operation also saw the loss of two soldiers and one local vigilante who sacrificed their lives during the encounter. The troops recovered several motorcycles and two mobile phones from the fleeing criminals, confirming the bandits arrived on motorcycles. Further security operations continue to ensure the safety of communities prone to cattle rustling and attacks. Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, Commander of 3 Brigade, reassured residents of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to peace and security in collaboration with other security agencies, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
