Customs Officer Found Dead in Katsina Hotel After Night with Three Women

A tragic incident unfolded in Katsina metropolis on October 15 when Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) Lawal Tukur was discovered dead in a hotel room at Murjani Hotel. Hotel staff found the officer lifeless in his room around 8:30 a.m. and promptly alerted the authorities.

Investigations at the scene revealed the presence of empty sachets containing unidentified substances in a wastebasket within the room, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the officer’s death. At the time, three women identified as Khadija Ali (34) from Dutsin Amare Quarters, Katsina; Aisha Lawal (30) from Ingawa Local Government Area; and Hafsat Yusuf (22) from Brigade Quarters, Kano, were reportedly with the deceased.

Sources gathered that Khadija and Aisha spent the night with ASC Tukur, while Hafsat joined them later and also lodged in the same hotel. The officer’s body was subsequently taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where medical personnel confirmed his death before transferring his remains to the mortuary for a detailed autopsy to ascertain the exact cause.

Though the Katsina State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has confirmed the officer’s death, they have refrained from commenting on the specifics surrounding the incident. As of this report, law enforcement agencies have launched investigations to unravel the circumstances behind the mysterious death.

The sudden demise of ASC Lawal Tukur has shocked colleagues and residents alike, sparking various speculations. His funeral prayers were held in line with Islamic rites at his family residence in Sabon Layi, near the Katsina Police Compound, shortly after the incident.
