The Arewa Christian Youth Leadership Forum (ACYLF) has responded firmly but respectfully to a recent warning by Prophet Primate Elijah Ayodele concerning the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a video circulating recently, Primate Ayodele cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against retaining Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe as APC National Chairman, questioning his capacity for the role.
ACYLF, a body dedicated to promoting responsible leadership and ethical political engagement among Christians, emphasized the importance of distinguishing between spiritual prophecy and personal political opinions, especially for religious leaders with significant influence on the Nigerian public.
“Religious leaders must exercise wisdom and fairness in their public pronouncements,” ACYLF Chairman Dunijir Gatama stated. “Mixing political opinions with prophecy risks undermining public trust in religious institutions and dilutes the sacredness of genuine prophecy.”
The forum highlighted Professor Goshwe’s solid credentials as a technocrat, academic, and proven leader. His appointment as APC National Chairman represents a new generation of leadership marked by competence, inclusivity, and meritocracy, ACYLF noted. They called on Nigerians to support Goshwe’s leadership with prayer, constructive criticism, and encouragement.
Professor Goshwe, an accomplished electrical engineer and former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, was unanimously elected as APC National Chairman amidst calls for unity and stability within the ruling party. Despite skepticism voiced by some, including Primate Ayodele, ACYLF expressed confidence in Goshwe’s ability to lead the APC effectively during this pivotal period in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
The Arewa Christian Youth Leadership Forum also called on all religious leaders across faiths to promote peace, unity, and responsible citizenship in Nigeria’s pluralistic society. They urged restraint and responsibility in public commentary on national politics, emphasizing the critical role faith leaders play in guiding positive national discourse.
As Nigeria faces significant political and social challenges ahead, ACYLF affirmed that the nation requires encouragement, responsible leadership, and collective commitment to fostering a stable and inclusive democracy.
