The Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed the promotion of Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and his redeployment as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at the Delta State Command. Until this elevation, Adejobi served with distinction as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
Adejobi’s promotion and redeployment follow the approval of the Police Service Commission and has been described by the Force as a strategic move to enhance security operations in one of Nigeria’s most sensitive states. Police authorities emphasized that this transition is part of routine career progression and administrative restructuring within the Force, dismissing rumors of any controversy or punitive motives behind the change.
Recognized for his extensive experience in public communication, operational management, and community policing, Adejobi is tasked with overseeing critical security operations in Delta State, tackling violent crimes, and fostering stronger police-community relations. Senior officers at Force Headquarters highlighted his professionalism and commitment as key reasons for his appointment to this vital role in Nigeria’s internal security framework.
Meanwhile, the Force has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin, formerly the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, as the new Force Public Relations Officer. Hundeyin brings a wealth of experience in security operations and strategic communication to his new role.
