NAPERVILLE, ILLINOIS—Authorities in Naperville have confirmed the discovery of a body believed to be that of Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede, the Nigerian-born woman who went missing on July 30, 2025, after leaving her home for a walk in the 2100 block of Sudbury Street.
The grim find was made Thursday, August 14, near the trailhead at the southwest corner of Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve, close to 83rd Street and Chandelle Drive. Naperville police officers responded to the scene around 1:55p.m. following a report from a passerby. Guided through dense, high grass, officers located the body, which was dressed in clothing matching what Sinmi wore during her disappearance: a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket, grey sweatpants, black headscarf, and black Crocs.

Sinmi, aged 46 according to official reports, left behind her cellphone, credit cards, and other personal items, indicating she intended to return shortly. The mother of four was described by her husband, Gbenga Abosede, as a “gem of a woman” whose faith and devotion anchored the family.
Police maintain that no foul play is suspected at this time. The final identification will be made by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office, which conducted an autopsy on the remains as of Friday, August 15. Results of the autopsy and official verification had not yet been released as of press time.
Community members, including St. Raphael Catholic Church—where Sinmi was an active parishioner—expressed deep sorrow over the loss. The church released a statement offering prayers for her family and reaffirming support for loved ones during this difficult time. Sinmi’s cousin, Fehintola da-Silva, also announced the tragic news on social media, thanking all who assisted in the search.
Authorities continue to encourage anyone with additional information to contact the DuPage Forest Preserve District police as the investigation proceeds. Police have stressed there is no ongoing threat to public safety, and the preserve remains open to visitors.

The community mourns the loss of a beloved wife, mother, and friend, remembering Sinmi for her warmth, faith, and kindness.
