LAS VEGAS — Global TikTok sensation Khaby Lame, 25, an Italian national originally from Senegal, was briefly detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on June 6 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for overstaying his visa. He has since exited the country after being granted voluntary departure the same day.
Lame, who entered the United States on April 30, exceeded the permitted duration of his stay. An ICE spokesperson confirmed the detention, stating that Lame was taken into custody for immigration violations.
The news of Lame’s detention first emerged from conservative influencer Bo Loudon, who publicly claimed to have reported Lame to ICE. Loudon subsequently posted what he asserted was a screenshot showing Lame at the Henderson Detention Centre in Nevada.
However, Lame’s name is no longer listed in ICE’s online detainee database, which aligns with the agency’s confirmation that he was granted voluntary departure and has left the U.S.
Lame, widely recognized for his silent, comedic skits that often mock overly complicated “life hacks,” boasts over 162 million followers on TikTok, making him the platform’s most followed user.
His brief encounter with U.S. immigration officials have garnered significant attention across social media, with fans expressing concern and support. Lame himself has not yet publicly addressed the incident on his social media channels.
