
DUTSE — Authorities in Jigawa State have launched a full-scale investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man who passed away on Tuesday, July 21, while lodged at a local hotel in Dutse alongside a 20-year-old woman.
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident in an official statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam. According to law enforcement, the man and his younger companion had checked into the establishment earlier that day.
Police reports indicate that shortly after ordering a meal, the man experienced a sudden medical crisis, beginning to gasp for air. Responding to a distress call, operatives attached to the Yalwawa Division rushed to the scene and transported the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse. Despite prompt medical attention, attending physicians pronounced him dead upon arrival.

During a subsequent search and forensic examination of the hotel room, detectives recovered various items, including food and drinks, alongside a suspected sexual enhancement substance and personal effects. These items have been secured as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Authorities confirmed that the 20-year-old woman is currently cooperating with investigators, providing statements to help clarify the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. Meanwhile, the deceased man’s remains have been handed over to his grieving family for burial in accordance with their wishes.
