The 2022 World Environment Day organized by Initiative for Sustainable Agriculture and Ecological Restoration INSAER in collaboration with Kainji Lake National Park (KLNP) and hosted by Federal College of Wildlife Management (FCWM), New Bussa has been lauded for the great success recorded.
In his remarks, the Founder and President of INSAER, Dr. Johnson Ogunjobi commended the Coordinator of the Niger State Chapter of INSAER, Dr. Ajayi Shola Richard for putting together the great occasion to commemorate the World Environment Day.
ValidViewNetwork was reliably informed that the 2022 World Environment Day organized by the Chapter has contributed immensely to the success stories of INSAER. According to the Founder and President of INSAER, if individuals and corporate bodies would replicate the type of commitment displayed by the Chapter, the environment would be better for it.
In his words, “I commend all our Chapters all over the country. I applaud the commitment and efforts put into the celebration of 2022 World Environment Day. I challenge individuals, organizations to emulate the commitment of the Niger State Chapter of our organization towards educating the masses on the importance of environmental protection.”
ValidViewNetwork reports that the theme of year 2022 World Environment Day “Only one Earth” was to create awareness among the people about the environment and the need for a safe earth, free from pollution and to capture the minds of the younger generation through conservation education.
As part of the strategy to capture the minds of the younger ones, twelve secondary schools within Niger State were invited for the World Environment Day with ten schools represented at the program.
Delivering his lecture, the Chief Host and Provost of the Federal College of Wildlife Management, New Bussa, Dr. Titus Ampitan appreciated INSAER for driving the protection of the environment and for networking and collaborating with relevant agencies and organizations towards achieving the goal of eco-restoration.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Mr. Ibrahim A.O, the Head of Department of Forestry Technology, Federal College of Wildlife Management, who is also a member of INSAER delivered a paper titled “Environmental conservation toward sustainable “One Earth.” followed by paper presentation on Eco-restoration by Mr. Abdulmalik, Isa and Mr. Bako Yusuf who are both staff of Kainji Lake National Park.
Highlights of the program was a quiz competition between the ten schools. ValidViewNetwork reports that the first position went to Mainstream Secondary School, Senior Camp, New Bussa, while the second position went to Army Day Secondary School, Army barrack, Wawa, while the third position went to Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) Secondary School, New Bussa. Each of the participants received special prizes courtesy of INSAER Niger State Chapter.
ValidViewNetwork reports that in recognition of their immeasurable contributions to the protection and restoration of the environment, award of honour were given to three individuals and a corporate body. The awardees are Dr. Titus Ampitan (The Provost of Federal College of Wildlife Management), Mr. Oladosu Jimoh, the Conservator of Park, Kainji Lake National Park and Honourable Abdulrahman Bala Gambo) representing Borgu/Agwara State constituency in Niger State House of Assembly, Minna while the corporate award went to Mainstream Energy Solution Limited (MESL).
The Provost of the FCWM was awarded as INSAER Ambassador of Manpower Development for Sustainable Environment while the Conservator of Kainji Lake National Park was awarded INSAER Ambassador for Biological Environment and Honourable Abdulrahman, Bala Gambo who is the lawmaker representing Borgu/Agwara State constituency in Niger State House of Assembly, Minna was awarded as INSAER Ambassador for Social Environment.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the only corporate award at the occasion went to the Managing Director of Mainstream Energy Solution Limited, represented by the Head of Health, Safety and Environment, Mrs. Iwunze, Prisca, as INSAER Ambassador for Physical Environment
Also featured during the World Environment Day celebration was a short drama by the students of the Department of Wildlife Management, with the title “living in harmony with nature” The playlet drummed home the importance of protecting the environment and charged the participants to contribute their quota towards eco-restoration
