Zamfara State has been one of the epicentres of banditry and terrorism in Nigeria’s North-West.
Police officers and other security personnel have been repeatedly targeted by armed groups operating in the state.

The Inspector-General of Police at the time, Olatunji Disu, vowed that the police would not succumb to defeat and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice .
