YOLA, Sept. 27, 2026 — A 54-year-old primary school teacher, Garba Suleiman, has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl, in a case police say followed a swift response to a family complaint.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Adamawa Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the development while parading the suspect. Nguroje explained that the arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s family at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Yola South LGA.
Swift Response, Grim Findings
According to Nguroje, operatives swung into action immediately after the complaint was received, and preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the minor before having unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
The victim has since been taken to hospital for medical examination.
Case Moves to State CID
Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola for discreet investigation and prosecution.
“The CP condemns in strong terms all forms of Gender-Based Violence and assures the public that justice will be served,” Nguroje stated.
A Renewed Call for Vigilance
The police spokesperson used the occasion to urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious person or activity, a recurring appeal in a state that has recorded a string of similar cases in recent years. ValidViewNetwork reports.
