Woman Arrested in Onitsha After Alleged Production of Child Pornography Using Her Children

On Thursday evening, September 10, detectives from the Anambra State Police Command arrested a woman, identified as Anulika Onyeanusia, at her home in Onitsha following allegations that she produced and sold sexually explicit videos involving young children.

Police say the operation resulted in the rescue of four children aged 2, 3, 6 and 9, and the seizure of sex toys and other items believed to be related to the alleged crimes. Neighbors who contacted investigators said they were alarmed after a video showing one of the children being abused was leaked and circulated in the community, prompting the tip-off to police.

According to residents, the nine-year-old victim had repeatedly complained of pain in recent weeks, and neighbors said they had grown increasingly concerned about the children’s welfare. Investigators moved quickly after receiving the report, carrying out a search of the property and arresting the mother. The suspect’s husband was also taken into custody for questioning as police probe possible complicity.

Anambra State Police confirmed the arrest and said an investigation is ongoing. Officers have custody of the rescued children and are coordinating with relevant social welfare and child protection agencies to ensure they receive immediate medical attention and psychosocial care. Forensic examination of seized devices is expected to form part of the probe to identify any buyers or distributors of the recorded material.

Sexual exploitation of children is a grave criminal offense under Nigerian law, and authorities say those found producing, distributing, or consuming child sexual abuse material will be prosecuted. Child protection advocates have condemned the alleged acts and called for a thorough investigation that holds all perpetrators and facilitators accountable.
