Similanayi Fubara, the Governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been proclaimed the winner of the Rivers State governorship election.
The Returning Officer announced the outcome in Port Harcourt on Monday night and noted that Fubara received 302,614 votes. Pastor Tonye Cole, a candidate for governor for the All Progressives Congress (APC), received 95,274 votes to place second.
Nyesom Wike, the current governor, has chosen Fubara as his choice for the position.
