Nollywood star Rechael Okonkwo, widely recognized as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has made a triumphant return with the eighth edition of her signature Nkoli Mega Carnival, bringing critical health services and welfare packages to thousands in Nsukka, Enugu State.
Following a two-year hiatus prompted by escalating operational costs that disrupted its traditional Easter timeline, the popular community-focused event bounced back with a profound humanitarian impact. Teaming up with the Franklin Junior Foundation, the revitalized program shifted its core focus heavily toward public health, deploying a robust medical team of doctors, nurses, and laboratory specialists.
Over 5,000 local residents received comprehensive medical consultations, essential prescription drugs, mobility aids like wheelchairs and walking support, and optical care, with critical cases routed to permanent medical institutions for advanced treatment.
Beyond clinical interventions, the outreach addressed acute economic pressures within the community. Around 500 vulnerable widows walked away with essential food items, wrappers, and household provisions, while children engaged in academic quizzes rewarded with bicycles to inspire scholastic dedication.
Okonkwo noted that her unwavering commitment to grassroots philanthropy stems from her personal background of losing her father at age 13 and navigating severe financial scarcity. Emphasizing that humble origins should not dictate ultimate futures, the actress celebrated the successful comeback of the initiative as a testament to resilience and communal solidarity.
