‘Where is Davido?’ Fans ask as Lagos announces Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage for countdown fiesta

The Lagos State Government has announced the 2025 edition of its annual end-of-year fiesta, the Greater Lagos Countdown.

The event, set to take place across five major locations in the state — Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe — will commence on Tuesday at 7 pm and culminate the following day with the New Year celebrations.

In a statement posted on X.com on Tuesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled a star-studded lineup of music performers for the event.

He wrote, “This December, Lagos welcomed the world, and now we’re ready to host the biggest countdown event in Africa.

“The Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 will feature the continent’s biggest music superstars: Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Seyi Vibez, all gathered for a night to remember.”

The accompanying video also revealed performances by BNXN, Qinq Madi, 9ice, Adewale Ayuba, Lojay, Adekunle Gold, and Niniola.

Sanwo-Olu continued, “The Greater Lagos Countdown is more than just a concert. It’s a celebration of our vibrant culture, our unity, and the indomitable Lagos spirit.”

“Join us for a night of music, cultural showcases, and unmatched Lagos energy as we welcome 2025 the Lagos way — in grand style. This is Lagos. We’re different,” the governor added.

However, the exclusion of Davido, a prominent figure in the Afrobeats industry, from the star-studded lineup has sparked reactions among fans.
Many were quick to note the absence of the “Aye” crooner from the prestigious list.

Herbmer replied, “They can’t invite Davido because he spoke about the African and Nigerian economy not doing well months ago.”
