ValidViewNetwork gathered that thousands of ardent supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and indigenes of Ogun State stormed the Ake Palace Pavilion in Abeokuta on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, as the party officially flagged off its campaigns for the 2027 governorship election.

The party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, and his deputy governorship candidate, Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, led the campaign.

The “ITURA DE” Agenda

Adebutu unveiled an economic and social development agenda tagged “ITURA DE” , pledging to deliver local government autonomy, improved workers’ welfare, and economic revival.

“We will not surrender Ogun’s sacred heritage to political mercenaries or transient tourists in 2027,” Adebutu declared.

He promised to ensure that the state’s heritage is protected and that development reaches all corners of the state.

A Call for Liberation

Adebutu described the campaign as a movement for “liberation” from what he characterised as years of misgovernance.

He urged voters to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 election.

Notable Personalities in Attendance

The event paraded notable personalities in the party and supporters from across the 20 local government areas of the state.

The massive turnout at the Ake Palace Pavilion signalled the PDP’s determination to capture the governorship seat in 2027.

A Lesson for Nigeria

The massive crowd at the PDP campaign launch is a reminder that Ogun State’s political landscape is fiercely competitive.

The same politicians who seek power must be held accountable for their promises. The same voters who attend rallies must also demand action.

For Nigeria, the lesson is clear: campaigns are not just about rallies, they are about accountability. The same leaders who make grand promises must be held to account when they fail to deliver.

Demand accountability. Reject empty promises. And never forget that your vote is your voice.
