WASH FM and Phlox Foundation Lead Major Free Medical Outreach in Badagry

In a significant demonstration of their commitment to grassroots healthcare, WASH 94.9 FM—the nation’s pioneering health-focused radio station—partnered with the Phlox Health WASH Foundation and several allied organizations to conduct a three-day free medical and surgical outreach in Badagry, Lagos State. The event, held from Thursday, August 21 through Saturday, August 23, 2025, witnessed over 500 residents benefiting from a broad spectrum of medical services at multiple locations including Badagry Grammar School, Great Physician Hospital, A-Harmony Hospital, and Our Lady Catholic Hospital, Ibereko.

Key collaborators in this health initiative included the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Lagos Chapter, Baptist Health Fellowship, and Prohealth International. The outreach provided free consultations, screenings, and treatments, with specialist teams performing both minor and major surgical interventions such as dental screening, scaling and polishing, eye examinations, breast lump excision, cataract extraction, and myomectomy.

Beyond medical care, the Phlox Health WASH Foundation distributed essential items like food, clothing, and medications to vulnerable community members, underscoring the program’s holistic approach to wellbeing. MWAN Lagos played an instrumental role, lending medical expertise and resources crucial to the success of the initiative.

WASH FM amplified the outreach’s impact by providing live outside broadcast services throughout the three-day period to raise awareness on the importance of healthcare and wellness at the community level.
