LOS ANGELES – Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers in Los Angeles have apprehended a 53-year-old Nigerian national following a string of serious allegations involving sexual violence and crimes against minors.
The suspect, identified as Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, was taken into custody on April 21, 2026, by federal agents. According to a statement released by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) late Friday, the operation was part of a targeted effort to remove noncitizens with violent criminal histories from the country.
A History of Repeat Offenses
ICE officials revealed that Olusanjo was not a first-time offender in the eyes of the law. His record includes prior arrests for:
- Child molestation
- Sexual battery
- Soliciting lewd conduct
The federal agency emphasized that his history of predatory behavior made him a high-priority target for the Los Angeles ERO field office. “Olusanjo has previous arrests for child molestation, sexual battery, and soliciting lewd conduct,” the agency confirmed. “He is currently in ICE custody pending removal.”
Deportation Proceedings Underway
Olusanjo’s arrest marks the beginning of the formal process to expel him from the United States. Following the arrest, he was processed and transferred to a federal detention facility.
Under current U.S. immigration policy, individuals convicted of or charged with “aggravated felonies” or crimes involving “moral turpitude”—which include sexual offenses against minors—are subject to mandatory detention and expedited deportation.
The Nigerian national will remain in federal custody without bond while the immigration courts finalize his removal orders.
The arrest comes amid a period of heightened enforcement by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) targeting “criminal aliens” across the Southern California region. Local community advocates and federal officials continue to navigate the complexities of immigration status versus public safety, though ICE maintains that its primary mission remains the removal of individuals who pose a clear threat to the community.
Nigerian diplomatic representatives have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the arrest or the impending deportation of their citizen.
