A trial date has been set for Adedapo Adegbola, the 40-year-old Nottingham man charged with the murder of 23-year-old graduate Stephanie Irons. The trial will begin on April 7, 2026, at Nottingham Crown Court, while a plea hearing is scheduled for January 16.
On October 21, emergency services responded to a call regarding concerns for a woman’s safety at an address on Westdale Lane West, Mapperley, Nottingham. Upon arrival, they discovered the deceased body of Stephanie Irons, who was known to her family and friends as Steph. She was an accomplished clinical psychology graduate, having earned both a degree and a master’s, and was preparing to apply for her doctorate in the field.
Adedapo Adegbola appeared via video link from HMP Nottingham during a court hearing on November 17, where he confirmed his identity but was not asked to enter a plea. Presiding Judge Nirmal Shant KC scheduled the upcoming hearings as the investigation proceeds.
Stephanie’s family paid tribute to her, describing her as a compassionate and loving individual with an infectious smile and laugh that lit up any room. They highlighted her ambitious career path and her caring nature toward others.
