Abuja – Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abubakar Muhammad Guri, of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), tragically slumped and died inside his office at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, June 3, 2024.

The sudden death has sent shockwaves through the Nigeria Police Force.
DCP Guri reportedly collapsed shortly after entering his office at the Louis Edet House without exhibiting any prior signs of illness or distress.
Eyewitnesses recounted thesombrer moment, stating that the senior officer, dressed in his uniform, was found slumped on his seat.
Immediate efforts were made to rush DCP Guri to a nearby medical facility within the police headquarters for urgent assistance. However, he was regrettably confirmed dead upon arrival. “Some officers rushed him to the hospital, and even before reaching there, he had already passed away,” a source close to the incident revealed.
The unexpected demise of DCP Guri has cast a pall of mourning and quiet contemplation over the Force Headquarters. While no official cause of death has been released by the authorities, sources speaking confidentially have suggested that the sudden collapse might be linked to heart failure, noting the immense pressure and demanding nature of police work which often leads to fatigue among officers.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has since expressed condolences to the family of the late DCP Guri, acknowledging his diligent service and commitment to the nation. DCP Guri was known for his compassion, punctuality, and unwavering dedication to his duties.
As of press time, arrangements are being made to brief the deceased officer’s family, and further details surrounding his passing are expected to be communicated officially by the Police Force.
