A devastating accident on Saturday morning along the Ife-Ilesa expressway in Osun State claimed the lives of a father, his three children, and their maid, leaving the wife critically injured.
According to the Osun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash occurred when a Mark trailer, allegedly driven on the wrong lane, collided head-on with the family’s Toyota Hilux vehicle. The tragic incident resulted in the immediate deaths of the father, his children, and their maid, while the wife was rushed to a private hospital in Ipetumodu for urgent medical attention.
FRSC spokesperson Agnes Ogungbemi confirmed that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife. The truck driver responsible for the crash is currently in police custody and will be prosecuted.
Sector Commander Taofeek Adeyemi disclosed that N508,900 in cash and other personal items recovered from the scene were handed over to the victims’ relatives in the presence of police officers. He urged motorists to obey traffic rules and avoid dangerous practices such as wrong-lane driving to prevent further tragedies on Nigerian roads.
