Director Naja’atu Muhammad has left Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign team where she served as the director of civil society for the All Progressives Congress’ presidential campaign council.
The resignation of Naja’atu, who is 67 years old, comes one month before the presidential election. She wrote a letter of resignation on Saturday that was addressed to Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the APC, and in which she also lamented the state of the country.
According to her, recent changes in the political and democratic sphere made it hard for her to continue taking part in party politics.
“The challenges that Nigeria faces today require me to continue championing the struggle for a better country with a clear conscience as I remain absolutely loyal to Nigeria,” Naja’atu said.

She stated that she left the position when she understood that her morals and convictions were no longer in line with party politics.
Party platforms, according to Naja’atu, have no ideological distinctions and are merely “robes that politicians wear to satisfy their own demands and interests.”
“I am committed to supporting individuals that are truly interested in addressing the root causes of our challenges. To remain true to such commitments, one must be willing to take bold and decisive steps,” she added.
She lamented the fact that citizens continue to experience instability, poverty, inequality, and a lack of access to essential services.
According to Naja’atu, the issues called for the concerted efforts of capable and patriotic leadership at all levels of government.
In the run-up to the 2023 elections, Hajiya Naja, as she is affectionately known, urged Nigerians to consider the implications of their decisions.
