President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension to the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. Originally set to conclude on August 31, 2025, Adeniyi’s term will now run until August 31, 2026.
The Presidency announced that this extension is intended to provide continuity for ongoing reforms crucial to the modernization of the Nigeria Customs Service. Among the key initiatives to be consolidated are the National Single Window Project—aimed at streamlining trade processes—and the execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
