Thugs disrupt election in Ogun, destroy ballot boxes

There are reports of disturbances in some polling units in the ongoing governorship election in Ogun State.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on election duty stop and search intercepted four party agents at Ibara Housing GRA, Abeokuta with hundreds of money credit cards, to buy votes.

In a tweet by the spokesperson of NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, each card contains 10k & activated to cash with a code.

Chairman of the agency, Mohammed Buba Marwa commended the operatives and directed the suspects be handed over to the police after proper documentation.

In iperu the hometown of the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun and one of the major contender, Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party, there were reports of ballot snatching and disruption of electoral process by political thugs.

Meanwhile, Governor Abiodun commended INEC on the conduct of the election and expressed hope that the exercise remain peaceful.

The governor stated this while addressing reporters shortly after he cast his vote at his Ita-Osanyin polling unit 2, Ward 3, Iperu, Ikenne LG.
