Two individuals sustained varying injuries after a suspected suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device near a mosque in Biu Local Government of Borno State.
The state Public Relations Officer, ASP Daso Nahum, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the victims had been promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
The explosion occurred around 8 pm on Sunday during the night prayers observed by Muslim faithful.

According to Nahum, the male suicide bomber, who was suspected to be heading towards the mosque, detonated the device close to the roundabout, resulting in his own demise.
He further explained, “Two passersby who were wounded by the explosive were immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.” Following the incident, a combined team of security personnel was swiftly deployed to the scene to restore normalcy.
Nahum emphasized the need for heightened vigilance among the populace, particularly during the Ramadan period when many Muslim faithful engage in late-night prayers.
He urged people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the security agencies promptly.
