‘Stop Bringing Cows, Rams to Judges,’ Retiring Justice Warns Politicians

Retiring Supreme Court Justice Ibrahim Saulawa has called on politicians to stop taking cows, rams and other gifts to judges.

The statement came during his valedictory proceedings as he prepared to leave the Supreme Court. Saulawa used the occasion to reflect on judicial integrity and the pressures that judicial officers may face.

He recalled an earlier incident in his career involving an attempt to give him a Peugeot 504 vehicle. He said he rejected the vehicle.
