The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has assured the public of the readiness of troops deployed nationwide to address any security threats, particularly with the onset of the Ramadan period for Muslims.
This assurance from the DHQ coincides with a statement from the Department of State Services (DSS), extending felicitations to Christians observing Lent and Muslims anticipating Ramadan.
The DSS urged citizens to remain vigilant, especially regarding the threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
In their joint statement, both the DHQ and DSS emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding potential threats, advising people to avoid crowded or suspicious areas and promptly report any unusual objects or activities to security agencies.
Furthermore, the DHQ, through its Director of Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, affirmed the preparedness of troops to tackle security challenges during Ramadan.

Maj. Gen. Edward asserted that troops are well-equipped to handle any threats that may arise during this period and reiterated their commitment to defeating terrorists.
Highlighting recent achievements, Maj. Gen. Edward reported the neutralization of 210 terrorists, the arrest of 142 suspects, and successful operations against oil theft and kidnapping.
Troops also seized a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, and illegal refining equipment, contributing to the disruption of criminal activities, particularly in the South-South region.
The DHQ emphasized the military’s ongoing efforts to maintain stability across the country and protect its citizens, underscoring their dedication to defending the nation against various threats.
