Nigerian afro-house singer, Niniola Apata, has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.
The Grammy-nominated artiste shared the heartbreaking news in a series of emotional posts on her Instagram story in the early hours of Wednesday.
“God took him,” she wrote in one post, before adding in another: “My husband died.”
In a third emotional message, she wrote: “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years,” alongside photos of herself and her husband.
Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on afro-house and contemporary African music.
Details surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed, as Niniola had largely kept her private life away from public attention and social media.
Niniola, 39, rose to fame after emerging as one of the standout contestants on Project Fame West Africa in 2013. She later gained international recognition with her 2017 hit single Maradona, which earned praise and collaborations with global stars including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
