Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, is said to have fathered Emmanuel Sanwo-Olu, according to the young man.
The 27-year-old Emmanuel claimed that his mother had recently told him that she had conceived him following an intimate encounter between her and Sanwo-Olu back in 1994.
The three-time father who filed the claim consequently indicated a strong desire to meet the governor, whom he said he had not seen since birth.
At the Delta State High Court 2’s Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, location, Emmanuel made the claims while speaking with journalists.
He claimed that his mother, who is from the Oleri village in the Udu Local Government Area, claimed to have given birth to him for Sanwo-Olu before she wed another guy with whom she had other children.
Emmanuel informed reporters that he has a wife and three children and does a “casual job” to make ends meet, but he insisted that he is the governor Sanwo-son Olu’s and said, “I simply want to see the man, Sir, as my father.”
John Aikpokpo-Martins, Emmanuel’s attorney, also disclosed to the media that the claimant was his client in a matter that was scheduled for hearing before the court on Tuesday and in which the Lagos State governor is a defendant.
Emmanuel Moses Sanwo-Olu and Babajide Sanwo-Olu filed a lawsuit under the case number EHC/148/2022 in which the claimant claimed that he was the offspring of a friendly connection between his mother, Grace Moses, and the defendant in the years 1994 and 1995.
The claimant also asks the court for the following in his writ of summons, which was issued by J. O. Aikpokpo-Martins, Esq.
“A statement stating that Madam Grace Moses of Oleri, Delta State is the claimant’s biological mother and that the defendant is her biological father.
“An order instructing and requiring the defendant to accept and provide the claimant all of the rights of a son in accordance with all relevant laws, whether they be statutory, common law, or constitutional laws.
“An order of permanent injunction prohibiting the defendant from further rejecting the claimant’s parentage.”
According to the claimant’s allegations in the statement of claim that is attached to the writ, Governor Sanwo-Olu allegedly had a romantic relationship with Grace Moses, a young woman from Oleri village, close to the city of Warri, between the years of 1994 and 1995, while he was a member of staff for a private business that did business in Warri and its surrounding areas in Delta State.
According to Emmanuel, the defendant knew that the aforementioned Grace Moses became pregnant in 1994 for Sanwo-Olu, and there was no retaliation on the part of the defendant. He also alleged that shortly after, the defendant departed Warri, and Grace Moses eventually lost contact with him.
Aikpokpo-Martin claimed he had earlier filed a request to dismiss the case on the basis that the governor was not prepared to waive his immunity. He also said he had filed an application seeking an order for the governor to forgo his immunity to appear for a DNA test.
But the attorney said that Sanwo-recognition of Olu’s paternity is the only thing his client wants, adding that there is “nothing more to it.”
In the words of the attorney: “We anticipate that if the governor is certain that he is not the claimant’s father, he will act in that way.
“Unfortunately, he asserted his immunity to claim that he is immune from lawsuits and he is not ready to waive it.
On account of that, they filed an application asking the court to dismiss the case and forgo hearing it.
“From now until the next postponed date, which is January 17, let’s see if his moral conscience can be appealed to, or whether he can present himself for a DNA test with Emmanuel. Press coverage is not necessary. It is possible to carry it out discreetly. He has shown to be incredibly tough to scientific verification with the claimant, despite the fact that no one wants to raise a fuss about him.
Emmanuel goes home if it turns out that he is not his son. It is quite easy to do. The young man, though, will be content if it is his own because at least now he is aware of his origins. He is now able to enter the Sanwo-Olu family as a family member at that point because he has the power and permission to do so.
