Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu warmly welcomed Haitian-American music icon Wyclef Jean alongside Miss Earth 2024 Jessica Lane and Miss Earth Water Bea Millan-Windorski during a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Marina, on Sunday. The meeting underscored Lagos’ emergence as a vibrant global hub for culture, creativity, and environmental advocacy.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Lagos is not only a center of artistic and cultural dynamism but also a dedicated participant in global efforts towards a cleaner, greener future. Their discussions aligned with ongoing sustainability initiatives and international partnerships in Lagos.

The visit coincided with the E1 Championship Fashion Showcase and Experience, held alongside the E1 Lagos Grand Prix, the first-ever E1 electric powerboat race on African soil. Lagos joined the ranks of Monaco, London, Jeddah, and Venice in hosting this pioneering event that highlights sustainable innovation and sports tourism. The fashion showcase brought together international beauty queens and championed environmental causes through humanitourism.

Sanwo-Olu hailed the E1 Lagos GP as more than a race, describing it as a celebration of Lagos’ spirit, innovation, and global influence. Wyclef Jean, acclaimed for his musical career with the Fugees and solo successes, is also known for his philanthropic and global advocacy work, making his visit symbolically resonant for Lagos’ vision.

This high-profile engagement accentuates Lagos’ role as a welcoming and energetic destination, renowned for its hospitality and commitment to sustainability and culture. With the ongoing success of the E1 Lagos GP and related events, Lagos continues to bolster its image as an innovative city on the global stage.
